I took my last final this morning. I assume that I passed it. If I didn't I'm in deep trouble. Faith, Tim. Believe. Believe. Believe.
I'm ready to make another movie. I decided that today.

Finally done moving.

I borrowed John Root's truck yesterday (thanks, John and Val!) and went to the old apartment. Andy helped me load up the rest of my stuff (desk, bike, amp, guitar, paintings, old TV, etc.), then I came and unloaded it all. After that I used the truck to drive to Deseret Industries in American Fork to get a bed for my guest room. Did you know that D.I. sells new mattresses? Someone posted about it on CougarBoard a while back -- apparently the church operates a mattress factory in Salt Lake. I got a nice new pillow-top queen-size mattress with foundation and frame for around $500.
After I got it all unloaded, up the stairs, and into the guest room, I returned the truck. Then began my quest for sheets. I went to a few different places -- Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, and Wal*Mart. I was *this* close to buying this awesome red and brown paisley duvet from the Isaac Mizrahi collection at Target, but I ended up just getting some chocolate brown sheets. For now I'll just use my old twin-size duvet on the guest. Next time I'm down in Orange County I'll pick up a queen-size duvet at IKEA.
It's nice to finally be done moving. I decided to abandon the old orange couch. Not only would it not fit up the stairs in the new house, but it was just time to move on. I'll get a nice love seat eventually for the office.
I forgot to post on Friday that I had passed off my compiler! I started working on that thing over Christmas break this past year and had worked on it rather consistently since then. I'm proud that I was able to get it done -- it was a huge project!
Also, I paid my parking fee and graduation fee, so now all that's keeping me from being a college graduate is passing my Physics final next Wednesday. I'm going to study for it on Monday and Tuesday.

... and in even BETTER news than the news that I'm about to graduate, Karl Rove has finally been recognized for the piece of garbage that he is. Now he can descend back to depths of hell from which he sprung.

Today Google is celebrating Joan Miro, my favorite painter and a native of Barcelona.

Next week I graduate from Utah Valley State College with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Finally!
Also, the 28th is my birthday. Anyone want to get together for dinner?

The Format

I went and saw The Format on Saturday night with Kevin, Sarah, Camille, and a few others. Their first album "Interventions and Lullabies" was one of my favorites of the past couple of years. It was a really good show -- we stood upstairs (at Club Sound) right at center stage. They played a great set and a few encores. Anyway, good show.

My DVR has changed my life. No other way to say it. Now I only watch the programs that I want to watch when I want to watch them. That sounds like a commercial, but TiVO/PVR/DVR/whatever you want to call it, but it's as advertised. Highly recommended.
Bless you, Timothy McSweeney!

I subscribed to Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern last summer. My first issue, number 16, came soon after. I then moved to the apartment on Dakota Avenue and for some reason I never received issues 17 and 18. I contacted the people at McSweeney's and they sent me new copies of the two missing issues, but they also never arrived. I can only assume that UPS had issues with my mailing address -- I haven't really considered any other scenarios, to be honest.
I contacted Angela at McSweeney's two weeks ago and gave her my new address. Today on my way back from the airport I stopped by the post office and got my mail -- we still don't have a mailbox yet -- and there was a package from McSweeney's. I opened it to find issues 17 and 18. So, tonight, I send my praises to you, oh gods of parcel and post!

Since I haven't mentioned it on my blog as of yet, I recently resigned from my position with Noah Corp. I have been given the opportunity to go work for Jon King at HPSI and I've accepted. I'm really excited. I gave my boss at Noah a one-month notice, so I'm with the company until the end of April, mostly just finishing up with the scheduler. I start part time with HPSI next week, though, just 5-10 hours a week.
This week is a doozy for me, though. I spent all day working on the scheduler, which is getting REALLY close, plus I went to school and to lunch. This evening I've been working on my compiler, which is due on Wednesday. I need to finish up a few parts of the file system that Thomas, Rusty, and I have put together for our O.S. design class. That's due tomorrow, but I have to run down to Orange County tomorrow to meet the HPSI partners. I will finish up the file system pieces tonight, then finish my compiler on Wednesday and Thursday nights, plus Thursday evening I have a 15-minute presentation on NeXTStep Bundles/Click Once Deployment in my O.S. design class for which I have barely begun to prepare.
Crazy week!
